If you want to generate leads then you need to start by creating content that others want. You’ll need a lead magnet

What is a lead magnet? A lead magnet is a piece of content that you exchange for contact information. But not all lead magnets are created equal. Remember that anything you create for content is a reflection of your business. People want to do business and buy from businesses that are professional and provide a product or service that provide solutions to their problems.

There used to be a time when website visitors would give their name and email to get on someone’s email list. For nothing more than to stay up-to-date with that person or business. This is pretty rare nowadays. People want value if they are going to give up their email address.

Let’s look at what it takes to build a highly effective lead magnet.

11 Keys to Creating the Perfect Lead Magnet

1. Solve a Problem

In order for you lead magnet to draw people in, it should solve a problem. If you know your target customer then you should know what problems they are having. Pick one and give them the solution they need.

2. Provide a ton of value

Your content has to be high quality and value-driven. Don’t be afraid to give away your best content. The goal is to get your leads to know, like and trust you. You have to have great content to make that happen.

3. Be Very Specific

You can’t be vague with your content. It should speak to a specific topic. Drill down and get specific. Remember that this content should solve a problem. A very specific problem.

4. Deliver a quick win

Give your visitor a way to get a win right now when they use your content. Make it an easy, quick win and they will be back for more of your content.

5. Make it easy to digest

Your lead magnet should be very simple to take in. Don’t use something that will take a ton of time to get through. A couple pages of content or a short video work great. Just pack it full of useful content they need.

6. Provide instant access

When your lead opts in the should get access to your lead magnet immediately. Either have it directly on a thank you page or send it to their inbox right away. Do not make them wait.

7. Generate QUALITY leads

All leads are not the same. You can go out and buy email lists. However, you will never build a solid business by buying emails. In fact, you will likely kill your business by being labeled as a spammer. You earn quality leads by providing quality content that solves a problem.

8. Have a way to collect information

The goal is to collect information from your visitor. You have to have a way to collect that information in a form. To do this you will need an email marketing platform like Kartra, Aweber or MailChimp.

9. Make it shareable

Your lead magnets need to be shareable across all your platforms. With an email marketing platform, you will be able to embed forms on your blog or website. You’ll also be able to share links to forms or pages on social media and in emails.

10. Include your branding

Our content should always reflect your brand with your unique voice and company logo. You should also make your lead magnet look very professional. If you go with a PDF download, I would strongly recommend having a cover and your PDF creating by a professional designer. Before you freak out about the cost, you can get these jobs done on Fiverr for a very reasonable price.
